A talk on Gender Justice and Constitutional Values-January 2022


As part of the 73rd Republic Day of India, A talk on Gender Justice and Constitutional Values. The resource person was Adv. Jasmine VH, High Court of Kerala. The program was accepted by the students as usual with a number of attendees.

 

 Christmas and New Year Celebration-2021

After the pandemic was kind of over, and everything was starting to feel normal again. We got the chance to celebrate Christmas. The students created the crib for Christmas and decorated the library.

 Workshop on Citation analysis using publish or perish - 10-12-2021

Covid-19 struck every aspects of human lives. Public gatherings and meetings were not possible.Still we were able to organize online workshops and seminars for the students. Mr.Jobin Jose was a wonderful resource person for the workshop on Citation analysis using publish or perish. All workshops had good number of attendees.

Library week - November 2021

Even in the midst of corona virus we were able to celebrate and conduct programs on behalf of St.Peter's library and Library and Information Science department. Various programs were also conducted and gifts were given to the winners. All programs lasted a week.

Many games like Quiz, Dictionary search, Battle of books, A letter to the librarian, etc.. were conducted. Teachers and students from various departments participated and gifts were given to all the winners.

An exhibition of various types like English literature, Malayalam literature, Holy books, Autobiographies, etc.. The exhibition was open for the students from the St.Peter's Senior HSS school.

 

All the programs were grand success. A visit to the St.Paul's Bethany School,

Kolenchery. Some of the famous books were introduced to the students. Games were conducted for the students too.

Setting Up a Library

Govt. Tribal School, Karippilangad

Destination reached

 On March 30th, 2021 we visited the Govt. Tribal U.P, School Karippilangad. We started our journey from our college at 8 AM and reached the school at 11 AM accompanied with our seniors, library staffs and our teachers.





The goal of the visit was to set up a library for the school. we donated 500 books, accession register, racks, etc.. for the school's library. The books were donated by Dr. Thampi Abraham, Former principal St.Peter's college Kolenchery, Dr. Dileesh S, Associate Professor, Dept. of Chemistry, St.Peter's college Kolenchery, Alumini members, and by the students.

The school was situated on a hilltop and lacked a library for the students. Sherylmol Philip, Principal of Govt. tribal school Karippilangad and other teaching staffs gave us a warm welcome. They also gave us a room in the school to set up the library. We all with our collective effort was able the set the library in no time. 
They also provided us with lunch.

PURSUIT OF KNOWLEDGE:READING WEEK

  Starting from June 19: Reading Day(Vayanadinam) we have conducted a week long series of activities at our library in connection with reading day. All the programmes we conducted was with the objective of developing reading habits among the students.Quiz competitions has been conducted on the light of reading day to the 9th standard students of st. Peters's higher secondary school and for the whole college winners of the quiz competition has been awarded attractive prizes and cash awards.

   A display of famous autobiographies has been arranged at entrance of the library for the whole week by the intention attracting the students towards reading and for developing a habit of reading nonfictions among the students who reads regularly.
  Another programme we have conducted was a book introduction to the students of st.peter's higher secondary school, Kolenchery. One of our students has introduced the 1st book of Shiva Trilogy-'The immortals of Meluha' to the students. A short summary of the book was also given and left the students in curiosity for knowing the rest of the story by which we hope them reading the book series.
  A library hour was also given to the students by introducing the different sections and activities involved in each sections.
  Posters were also made reminding the importance of reading by the students of our department.

On May 1st we, the library family of st.Peter's college has went to Vannappara a village in Todupuzha, Idukki district with an initiative of setting up a library. we have started our journey at 8 'o' clock in the morning and reached there by 10 am. we have been received with at-most happiness and care by the librarian, Panchayat president and other responsible personnels.


  We have carried around 259 books of different great categories since the task we undertook was of setting a public library. since the library building was under construction we couldn't complete the task of arranging books. so we handed over the books which have been classified according to Dewy Decimal Classification and Our librarian Smt. Anat Suman Jose has given a short tutorial on the classification scheme.
  After the library setting, we set off to Bhoothathankettu and reached there by work. After having our lunch we enjoyed the rest of the day there.
